Kutztown, PA…The Northeast Berks Chamber of Commerce announces its second-annual Shining Star Event to be held at the Berkleigh Golf Club, 14623 Kutztown Rd, Kutztown, on Thursday, September 24, 2015. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Early-Bird tickets are on sale now through July 24, 2015, with discounts for individuals, couples, and tables of eight. Regular ticket pricing will begin on July 25 until tickets are sold out. A limited number of tickets is available, so early purchase is highly recommended.

The Chamber recognizes that early response from event sponsors contributes greatly to the overall success of Shining Stars. Thanks to Gold Sponsors Capital Blue Cross, Kelly Services, and Service Electric; Silver Sponsors Lehigh Valley Health Network, Antanavage Farbiarz, PLLC, Watkins Architect, LTD, Interlace Communications, Santander Bank N.A., Tompkins VIST Bank, PenTeleData, CruiseOne, and Reading Fightin’ Phils; and Category Sponsors: Kelly Services for Member of the Year; Greater Reading Economic Partnership for Advocate of the Year; Hypnosis in Berks for Entrepreneur of the Year; Leibensperger Funeral Home for Small Business of the Year; Fraser Advanced Information Systems for Nonprofit of the Year; Keystone Villa at Fleetwood for Mid-Size Business of the Year; Elite Business Solutions, LLC for Large Business of the Year; Sher & Associates as cupcake sponsor; and Santander Bank N.A. as Shining Star website sponsor.

The call for nominations has been issued for this year’s Shining Stars in six categories, including small business, mid-size business, large business, entrepreneur, advocate, and nonprofit. Any active member of the Chamber is eligible to self-nominate or to nominate a fellow Chamber member that represents excellence in one of these areas.

For a second year, the Reading Chapter of SCORE partners with the Chamber to process and judge the nominees. Three finalists will be selected for each category based upon a review of the nomination forms. Later in August, the slate of finalists will be publicized on the Northeast Berks Chamber’s website and social media channels and via regional media outlets. All finalists and winners will be published in the event program.

The nominations process is confidential, and submitting an online nomination form will generate for the nominee an email receipt of a questionnaire that solicits both biographical and business information and a request for up to three high-resolution photographs.

A winner from each category will be announced during the event; from these winners, an overall Member of the Year will be chosen. In 2014, during the Chamber’s 25th Anniversary and its first signature Shining Star Event, Deborah Berger, owner, Hasch Daal Custom Embroidery Silk-Screening & Promotional Items, was recognized as Member of the Year. Advocate of the Year was Kim Davis, Cynergy Associates, Inc. Nonprofit of the Year was Mary Linkevich, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. Small Business of the Year was Russell Farbiarz, Antanavage Farbiarz, PLLC. Corporation of the Year was Jim Long, Security Service Company. Entrepreneur of the Year was Deborah Berger, who, as noted, was named overall winner. The Member of the Year will again receive a gift, and each of the other category winners will receive an award.
